Emerging from a dense and tangled web of contradictions and sonic juxtapositions, a young man’s voice rings out to reconcile the extremes of his ego with his ideals about love and beauty– calling out to Planet Booty.
Mystical, ridiculous, deranged and sublime, the comical teases the sincere in this intergalactic adventure to the raucous epicenter of an ass-shaped planet. Back and forth we rock from the silly and the primal to the cerebral and the heartfelt. We learn of booty queens and butt cracks in one breath and insecurity and indecision in the next. Seduced by the tribal rhythms and lush soundscapes, yet disoriented by the ever-changing array of voices, we’re left wondering if these caricatures are confessional or just cartoons? Are we running towards something or simply running away? Is this intentional or does this man have a personality disorder?
A close collaboration between brothers Dylan and Nathan Germick, this ambitious debut is their first attempt to fuse Dylan’s soulful theatrics and instinctual funkiness with Nathan’s epic and introspective productions. Several years in the making, the shrapnel of obliterated genres orbit around this mutant hybrid like space junk in an alien universe that defies logic, but somehow still makes sense.
